LEADER Food Initiative

Up to €15 million of LEADER funding has been announced nationally under the ‘LEADER Food Initiative’ to support new and existing artisan/small food and beverage producers and is intended to make a vital contribution to the development of local food businesses.

Funding is available for capital investment, analysis and development, or training.  The types of projects that are eligible for funding include the renovation and extension of production facilities; the purchase of processing equipment; marketing development, competitiveness and innovation.

Support for Artisan/Micro/Small food and beverage producers may include but is not limited to, the following:

  • Applications with a focus on collaborative proposals, aimed at production quality and market issues;
  • Applications with a regional product development focus, including supports for marketing distinctive local foodstuffs;
  • Applications for marketing and processing for strategically identified sectors, including honey and apple processors;
  • Applications for improved marketing, product quality and business skills through support for innovative collaborative processes and so address challenges to co-operation identified in studies on facilitating short supply chains e.g. entry barriers, the need for shared understanding, skills/training, marketing and business skills deficits.

The maximum amount of funding available is €200,000 per project.

Ballyhoura Development now invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) for this initiative. Click here to access the EOI form. If your EOI is deemed eligible. You will be directed to submit a full application within the following nationally set timeframes:

·        30th June 2018 to 28th September 2018
·        29th September to 30th November 2018

 

A LEADER information evening will be held on Wednesday the 13th of June in the offices of Ballyhoura Development, Coote Hall Resource Centre, Kilmallock, Co Limerick at 7.30pm.
