Nicola Dennehy – Life Coach, Reiki Master, Divine Essence Crystal Healing Practitioner
BA (Sociology), HDip CW, Diploma in Life & Business Coaching, Member International Coaching Federation

Having worked extensively in the community and voluntary sector with a variety of Community, Voluntary and State agencies, in 2005 I decided to refocus my career and train as a Life Coach.  At that time, I had taken on a lot of responsibilities and was striving to be what I believed others expected of me.  Once I made the decision to change my career, my whole life just seemed to fall into place.

Life Coaching gave me a great understanding and awareness of how my life choices had brought me to where I was.  It made me realise that not only had I the power to create the life I really wanted but I had a responsibility to do so.  I had always had an interest in energy healing and holistic therapies and so decided to train in Reiki and Crystal Healing.  Thus began my new journey.

Initially, I began working solely as a Life Coach. As part of my coaching work, I began facilitating various group pieces of training and workshops.   I quickly realised that combining my experience in the world of training and facilitation along with my Life Coaching and Energy Healing created a unique experience. Participants were able to identify what they really wanted from life, they could recognise what stumbling blocks had held them back and could begin to release any deep-seated emotional blocks. allowing them to see their experiences in a whole new light.  With this insight I set about to create something more…and in 2019 An Tobar Wellness Centre was born.

Nicola's Experience with the WREN Programme:

I have been familiar with the WREN programme for a number of years. Initially, about 2 years ago I considered applying for the programme. At that time, I was considering going back to work having taken time out to be with my children.  While I knew that I would be returning to Life Coaching and holistic work, I hadn’t fully thought through how I intended doing that and so felt that it wasn’t the right time for me to apply for the programme.

When the opportunity arose again in mid-2020, I was 9 months into a new business (An Tobar Wellness Centre) that unfortunately, Covid regulations had closed temporarily after only four months so I was somewhat in limbo.  I felt that WREN offered an opportunity to refocus, to network and to engage with a group of like-minded supportive women.  It was a chance to think about why I had established my business initially but also to make decisions about how I would move my business forward.

As a business that was established as a face to face service, I am now exploring how I can effectively bring parts of my business online and provide distance and virtual services.  I am delighted to have been allocated the support of a mentor to work with on this and hopefully in the coming months will have the virtual side of the business up and running.

Although I am currently only halfway through the programme, it has been hugely beneficial to me.  As a new business, the stresses and strains of Covid could have forced me to close my doors permanently.  However, the support of the WREN Programme and the other participants has motivated me to explore new avenues, it has encouraged me to refocus and think about opportunities that I had not thought about before.  It has helped me maintain a positive mindset in difficult times and make bigger and better plans for my business moving forward.  For any female entrepreneurs out there, if you have an idea that you are passionate about and truly believe in, then I would definitely recommend the programme.

What do I do as a Life Coach?

We all want more from life. Some people are more vocal about this than others but ultimately, we all want to live a life of purpose and meaning.  In order to do this, we need the resources to make it happen.  This means that we must open ourselves up to change and to risk. We need to step outside of our comfort zone, challenge those limiting beliefs and clearly visualise and verbalise what it is that we really want in life.

As a Life Coach, my aim is to help you identify what it is that you really want from life and to help you put in place the actions to make it happen.  The first step is helping you to become very clear on what it is that you really want, not just what you think you want or think you can achieve.

All too often we settle for what it is that we know we can achieve.  I, however, believe you deserve so much more.  You have natural skills, abilities and talents. You have interests and passions that get you motivated.  So why don’t we use these to create the life you really want?

My job is to help you recognise your full potential and to work with you to develop strategies and actions to achieve the results that you know are available to you.
