Hedges, watercourses and field margins are important linear features that define the Irish farming landscape and provide food, shelter and movement corridors for our native wildlife.

These habitats are vital for biodiversity, and also provide other important benefits to farms, such as shade and shelter for livestock, pollination, flood prevention, water quality protection and carbon storage. These benefits are commonly known as ecosystem services.

Join us for a hands-on practical session for farmers focused on simple and practical actions which can be taken to ensure that linear biodiversity habitats on farms provide for nature and for farms.

Hedgerows are a means of Managing Linear Biodiversity Habitats on Farms, and this session will guide farmers on how to optimise hedgerows for both biodiversity and farm productivity.

This session is open to all, and is of particular relevance to farmers participating in the Parish Habitats & Biodiversity (PHAB) EIP in Glenroe Ballyorgan.
