Would you like to work as a Carer or a Healthcare Assistant?

This FREE course is part of the Healthcare Opportunities for Women programme and is open to women who are not working or are not in receipt of a job seeker's payment in their own name. 

A qualification in Healthcare (QQI, Level 5) can open the door to new employment opportunities, across a range of care environments, from acute hospital settings to residential and home care.


What's involved?

Learners who successfully complete this module will:

  • Develop a better understanding of the basic principles of infection control
  • Explore their responsibility towards ensuring the best evidence-based practice
  • Develop basic skills in relation to the promotion of good infection control practices
  • Develop a basic understanding of the growth of microorganisms and the chain of infection

*Note, there is a work experience element that will take place outside the classroom hours. Garda Vetting will apply. While it is the learner's own responsibility to gain work experience support will be given**


When & Where?

This training is part-time delivered in-person over two half days and runs during school hours at the Kilmallock FET Centre.

Commencing on Tuesday 26th of April (every Tuesday & Thursday), and it completes the 26th of May.


Learning Supports Provided!

Women who join the programme will be supported intensively with one to one supportsgroup support and support to gain employment.

Learners who complete this module can progress towards a full QQI level 5 Award and gain employment in Healthcare.
