Learn How To Become A Fresh Water Citizen Scientist

Clean water is becoming an increasingly scarce and valuable resource. It is under threat from pollution and climate change and the world’s groundwater resources are being depleted.

What's involved?

The Freshwater Watch monitoring program has simple kits that can be used to monitor water quality. At this workshop, you will get the opportunity to learn how to use these sampling kits.  You will also have the opportunity to get involved in a citizen science monitoring program.

As a Tidy Towns group, this workshop and proposed monitoring programme could be used as part of Nature and Biodiversity in your locality and Community Involvement and planning sections of the competition. It also links to Sustainable Development Goal 14 life underwater.

This workshop will be outdoors so please dress appropriately.

Key Speaker:

This is a FREE webinar that will be facilitated by Donna Weiner, who is a Ph.D. researcher from Mary Immaculate College. She is completing a Ph.D. called CSI Rivers, which aims to empower individuals and communities to improve the health of their local rivers by engaging in nature-focused citizen science initiatives that can benefit the natural landscapes and biodiversity as well as the individuals who participate.
