Ballyhoura Development is working in partnership with University College Cork (UCC) to deliver a QQI Level 7 Leadership in the Community programme in the Ballyhoura area.
We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest!

This is a part-time programme that involves participants attending lectures and workshops one night a week over two years in the Ballyhoura area.

The programme includes:

  • Group work skills;
  • History and Theory of Community Development;
  • Principles and Practice in Youth & Community Work;
  • Social Analysis;
  • Leadership and Management in the Community;
  • Work Placement with a community organisation;
  • Research Skills.
There are no exams. Assessment is assignment based and includes learning logs, a community profile, group projects, presentations, essays and a practical placement.

Who is it for?

This programme is targeted at people who are:
  • Curious about the way local communities develop;
  • Active in local communities;
  • Interested in developing services and resources in local communities;
  • Open to becoming more involved in local events.
