Ballyhoura Development has welcomed the announcement from the Department of Rural and Community Development that Carebright, based in Bruff, Co. Limerick, is one of 22 new organisations being supported through the Community Services Programme (CSP).

Carebright Community is Ireland’s first purpose-built community for people living with dementia and offers a social day care service for people living in the community and also for people living with dementia in the wider community. The CSP funding allocated to Carebright will contribute to the recruitment of 1 manager and 3 employees for the Carebright Community.

The CSP supports community-based organisations to provide vital local services through a social enterprise model, providing a contribution towards the cost of employing staff and enabling organisations to provide access to services and facilities that would otherwise generally be unavailable.

Eligible organisations are supported under three strands:

Strand 1 – Community Halls and Facilities;

Strand 2 – Community Services for Disadvantaged Communities; and

Strand 3 – Community Organisations Employing People Distant from the Labour Market.

The funding allocated to the 22 new organisations for 2020 brings the total number of organisations supported through the CSP to 422 nationally.

If any community would like further information on the Community Services Programme, please contact your local Ballyhoura Development Officer to arrange a meeting.
