LEADER funding has been approved for Ballyhoura Development to support 25 local communities to develop Tidy Towns Plans in Limerick and 5 communities to develop Tidy Towns Plans in North Cork, in 2020.

This project will be carried out across across 2020 and will encompass clinics, site visits, support with preparation of plans, familiarisation trips, and one-to-one support to the participating communities, who will also receive a financial contribution towards the printing of their Plans.

Plans developed by participating communities will be grounded in a sound environmental ethos, encompassing actions to support local environmental resilience, sustainability and biodiversity, framed around 8 key principles.
  1. Nature knows best!
  2. Consider natural succession
  3. Favour native species
  4. Choose open-pollinated seeds
  5. Look after the small & the big will look after themselves
  6. Make connections: ecological corridors
  7. Reduce the use
  8. Prevention & early intervention for invasive alien species
