Throughout the Spring, Battview Matters Gardening Group took part in an 8-week horticulture programme delivered through the Cork Education and Training Board Community Education programme.

Activities included working on raised beds in the Hillview Drive Community Centre and working on vegetable gardens in the Charleville Further Education and Training Centre. Additionally, the group made hand-made willow baskets for growing strawberries.

To mark the end of the 8-week programme, the group enjoyed a sunny Saturday at Anne's Grove Gardens in Castletownroche, Co. Cork. There was plenty to see and experience for the group in the Heritage Gardens of Anne's Grove. The OPW provided a guided tour and the group enjoyed the landscaped wonders of the Georgian era, followed by a picnic lunch on the grounds.

Battview Matters Gardening Group is a community-based social group that meets to develop gardening skills.
Supported by Ballyhoura Development through the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP) and the North Cork Rural Community Health Care project, community education hours are provided by the Cork Education and Training Board (CETB).
