If you are interested in joining the network, the first step is to check if there is an existing SEC in your area. You can do this by contacting your local Community Energy Mentor or Development Officer, or by checking the SEAI’s Network Map:

Search Our Sustainable Energy Communities Network | SEAI

You will often find that there is already a SEC in your area, and they will be happy to welcome you on board.

If there isn’t an existing SEC in your area, we can help you set one up. The first step is to identify other members of the community who are willing to engage with the programme, and it is good practice to include as many sectors of the community as possible. Again, your local Community Energy Mentor or Development Officer will be able to help with this if needs be.

Once your team has been identified, you will need to register your SEC on the SEAI website:

SEC Membership Registration | Community Energy | SEAI

Note that this is free of charge, and there is no legal or financial commitment at this stage.

Following registration, you will be contacted by a Community Energy Mentor who will be assigned to support you and your group on your SEC journey, and they will reach out to you regarding your next steps.
