This workshop will provide guidance and direction on growing herbs, some of their economic and health benefits and how they can benefit your vegetable patch. It will appeal to anybody with interest in growing or eating herbs or exploring the health benefits of herbal remedies.

A tour around the Mitchelstown Community Allotments will also be facilitated by allotment members, looking at how they plant and grow with the seasons, and they will discuss the benefits of growing a variety of species in each plot.

Participants will be provided with a starter kit to start their own little herb garden at home.

What's Involved?

The workshop will begin with a brief introduction and tour around the Mitchelstown allotments, meeting the volunteers and discussing the importance of making the most of your allotment. The discussion will then move onto the importance of herbs from acting as natural pest controls, medicinal benefits and the economic benefits of growing your own produce.

To support budding growers, participants will be provided with a herb box starter kit to practice what they have learnt from the session.

When & Where?

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, 14th March, from 11 am - 12 pm in Mitchelstown Community Allotments, Church Hill, Ballinwillin, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.
