From September 2019 to June 2020, the Ability Programme will run in Charleville, Cork.

Location: Charleville E-Centre

Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Times: 10:00am - 1:00pm

The programme is free and disability allowance payments are not affected by participating.

The group of young people participating in the 2019/2020 programme will have the opportunity to take part in the following;

  • Media production and self-advocacy training (Accredited or non-accredited options available)
  • Group and/or individual volunteering projects
  • Work experience placements
  • Group and one-to-one career guidance sessions
  • Digital Skills training
  • Work related training courses such as Safe-Pass, first aid training, manual handling,
    and HACCP certification (dependent on demand)
  • Driver theory tutoring and test
  • Anxiety, stress and change management course
  • Talks from a range of guest speakers
  • Healthy eating & nutrition workshops
  • Plus a range of fun activities throughout the year to be decided by the group

We are always on the look out for employers who would like to engage with Ability in one or more of the following ways;

  • Speaking to the group about working in their business/industry
  • Participating in efforts to raise awareness of how to better accommodate disabilities in the workplace
  • Offering a short work placement 
  • Providing mentoring to a young person interested in their industry
