Over the Halloween Midterm Break, children from the Batttview Matters Homework Club, Charleville and Mitchelstown Afterschool took part in 'My Community through Sound' workshop facilitated by Grey Heron Media.

The children learned about using sound creatively by using a variety of instruments and equipment. It gave them the opportunity to play and create sounds together, work as a team, develop social skills and self-esteem.

The children developed an audible story of their own creation. In an exciting and engaging atmosphere, the workshops promoted independence and communication as well as creating a link to the wider community in particular diverse culture and creativity. The workshops were supported by staff from Ballyhoura Development and Respond.

The project was funded through Cork County Councils Creative Ireland Grant Scheme.
