Ballyhoura Development and Ballyhoura Fáilte invite members of the Ballyhoura Tourism Industry Network to join them on the 11th of July for a Familiarisation Trip.

The Ballyhoura region has many beautiful gardens and talented artists and crafts people, and this trip will highlight just some of the experiences these offer for visitors to the region.

Trip Highlights:

  • O’Mahony Garden is an award winning one-acre ornamental garden looking on to the Galtee mountains, and we meet Siobhan to hear about her experience of creating the garden over the last 30 years and opening to the public.
  • Terranova Garden is the work of Deborah Begley, home to an exotic Thai House with tropical plantings, it is a dynamic space full of the unexpected and is sure to delight and intrigue.
  • Rockbarton Garden Centre is situated in an historic and beautiful 18th Century courtyard and is a family run business by Lynda & Bryan Sheehan, along with their children.
  • Lough Gur Pottery is run by Clair Jones who creates pots inspired by the beautiful surroundings and natural heritage of Lough Gur, as well as offering workshops for children and adults.
  • Coolwater Garden is small private garden set on half an acre, highlights include a large number of landscaped Alpine troughs, combe bordered with thyme running between two ponds, a fern dell and a juniper escarpment.

Lunch will feature local produce giving a taste of the Ballyhoura region.

The day will also form a chance to visit and learn first-hand about some of the experiences available to visitors across the Ballyhoura region, as well as a chance to meet and network with other tourism businesses and Ballyhoura Development staff.
