Ballyhoura Development Hosts Summer District Forum Virtually

On Thursday 25th of May, Ballyhoura Development CLG hosted its Summer District Forum virtually. Due to continuing Covid-19 restrictions, this event took place online.

The evening was opened by Padraig Fitzgerald, Chairperson of Ballyhoura Development with an update provided by the CEO of Ballyhoura Development Padraig Casey.

The focus of this District Forum was themed around looking forward to easing Covid restrictions over the summer months and supporting communities to reopen.

Jana Mannion and David Whyte focused on Community Tourism and reopening Ballyhoura.  The reopening Ballyhoura Country videos were played and communities present were presented with information on Ireland Reaching Out and the Historic Graves project

John Hassett delivered information on Training and Capacity building supports for communities, businesses, and individuals in the area.

David Whyte delivered an information session on fundraising for community groups and information on current funding opportunities was also presented.

The evening concluded with a question and answer session chaired by Clare Jordan, Development officer, who once again acknowledged the community spirit that continues to shine strongly in the area despite restrictions on physical gathering.

In total over 70 representatives from 30 communities took part.

Ballyhoura Development would like to acknowledge the communities, stakeholder agencies, staff, and Board members who participated in the Forum and look forward to continuing to work together in these challenging times and in the weeks and months ahead.
