Ballyhoura Development has been officially recognised by the Mayor of Co Cork, Cllr Ian Doyle, for its positive contribution and support to local communities throughout the Covid 19 crisis.

Mayor Doyle witnessed first-hand the tremendous effort that has been made by individuals and community organisations alike across the Ballyhoura Development area and how important this effort has been in improving the quality of life for all residents across what has been a very difficult and challenging time.

In lieu of the traditional Mayor’s Award Ceremony, Mayor Doyle, on behalf of the people of Cork, presented Ballyhoura Development with a ceremonial scroll to express gratitude for admirably serving the people of Cork County during the Covid 19 crisis. The Board of Ballyhoura Development accepted the ceremonial scroll and thanked the staff of the organisation and all of the community groups that have worked tirelessly through out Covid 19 to improve the quality of life, health and safety outlook for their community.

Ballyhoura Development, the community led Local Development Company operating across north Cork and east Limerick, has been active throughout Covid 19 in quickly moving its range of high quality community, business and individual supports online and in establishing an area wide food distribution network to support families and communities in need. The quality of local information and communication activities, the range of local supports developed and put in place and the level of activity across communities throughout the area demonstrates the value of community led, local development and the need for ongoing additional supports for local community groups operating on the ground in rural communities.
