Ballyhoura Development are encouraging Social Enterprises across the Ballyhoura area to contribute to the public consultation for the new National Social Enterprise Policy.

The main purpose of the consultation is to seek views on the content of the next Policy that will underpin investment and support to Social Enterprise up to 2027.

Community-led Social Enterprises provide vital services and infrastructure in communities across the Ballyhoura area.

These services and facilities are the backbone of many communities and range across health, recreation, tourism, housing, the environment, business centres, childcare and recycling among others. While their core objective is to achieve a social, societal, or environmental impact, they pursue their objectives by trading in goods and services and investing surpluses into achieving the core social objectives.

This consultation provides a great opportunity for local Social Enterprises to help shape the next stage of investment and Government supports for the sector.

The consultation paper is structured around five thematic objectives which have been selected for the policy:

  1. Awareness Raising;
  2. Growing Social Enterprise;
  3. Supporting Climate Action Contribution;
  4. National and International Engagement and
  5. Impact Measurement.

All interested parties are encouraged to make a submission through the consultation, which may be found HERE.
