Ballyhoura Development CLG is supporting the community of Murroe in the development of an innovative multi-purpose community recreational facility-Murroe Town Park.

With the support of Leader funding through Limerick LCDC, Ballyhoura Development has supported the community to develop a Skate Park which opened in April this year as part of the Murroe Town Park Development. The skate park will provide a positive space that encourages young people to meet and be active in a safe, secure environment and is already very popular with local and visiting skateboarders and BMX riders.

The completion of the skate park marks the successful conclusion of Phase 2 of the Murroe Town Park Development. The skate park project was a direct response to a large increase in the local youth population in recent years and a growing urgency for more facilities and spaces that can cater to children and adolescents.

The first phase of the Murroe Town Park development saw the completion of an all-weather facility, surrounded by a walking track, seating, and lights. The third phase will see the construction of a multi-purpose community building.

The Skate Park was chosen as one of a suite of facilities promoting both structured and unstructured physical activities on the community field site. It is intended to complement the existing playground, which will be relocated to an adjoining area of the site.
