Part-time Community Link Worker Overview Job Title: Peer Link Worker Organisation: Ballyhoura Development CLG Location: Kilmallock, County Limerick Salary: €13.10 per hour Part-Time Job Details: Reporting to: Line Manager as appointed by the CEO of Ballyhoura Development Responsible for: The successful candidate will be a key peer link worker with the Traveller Community in East Limerick supporting their participation in Building Bridges Project, activities and events, in order to improve their overall health and well-being. The PLW will work closely with the Building Bridges Coordinator and other members of Ballyhoura Development, TASC and Friar’s Gate Theatre. Key Responsibilities: To be a Peer Link Worker with the Traveller Community in East Limerick. To liaise with the Traveller Community and to facilitate a two-way flow of information between Ballyhoura Development and the Traveller Community. To undertake outreach in the community in order to build up trust and relationships. To support the on-going participation of Young Travellers in the groups. To support and encourage Young Travellers to engage with Building Bridges Project and attend Theatre Sessions, as necessary. To organise events with the Building Bridges Coordinator e.g. Youth Theatre Sessions, Engagement and information session’s etc. To undertake any other duties relevant to the post as directed by Ballyhoura Development CLG. Person Specification: Applicants must be a member of the Traveller Community. Experience of undertaking peer work with the Traveller Community. An understanding of the issues impacting on Travellers, especially in relation to health and equality. Good communication skills. An ability to motivate young people to get involved in community activities. An ability to be flexible and to work as part of a team. Commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of Young Travellers in East Limerick. Full Driver’s licence and access to a car is desirable. Essential Experience: Experience of working with the Traveller Community using peer-led approaches. Experience of keeping work records and reporting on the work Desirable Experience. Knowledge of computers Skills: Member of the Traveller Community Computer Skills Good Communication Skills Terms & Conditions: This position is an 18-month fixed term contract. The person is expected to work part time, 7 hours per week over 2 days. The Position is based in Coote Hall, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick. The successful candidate will be required to undergo Garda Vetting. Salary: Salary is paid monthly in arrears. Ballyhoura Development is a living wage employer.
