Ballyhoura Beo’s Mid-Term Mountain Biking Sessions have guided introduction sessions for all. Feel the wind in your face, puff in your lungs, and excitement in your veins. Mountain biking offers a true escape where your only focus is the next bump, turn, or banked berm. Ballyhoura Beo Mountain Bike Leaders make getting into the mountains as simple as possible. Helping beginners and learners to gain confidence under the supervision of our guides. We bring the equipment, the knowledge, and tricks, and tips to make your morning or afternoon an outdoor adventure like no other. Junior Grom’s Sessions: €25pp This session is for kids who know how to ride a bike and want the next step. The Junior Grom Sessions allow the children to begin to explore the fun of mountain biking under the watchful eye of a qualified Mountain Bike Leader. Each child will get to understand the difference between town and mountain biking and be taken through the basic skills and safety briefing. The MBL instructors will then pick the best route for the group to explore, challenge themselves and most of all have fun. Age: 9-12yrs Location: The Coillte - Ballyhoura Mountain Forest Trailhead Duration: 2.5hrs Group Size: 8 Bike & Helmet Hire: Included Junior Progression Sessions: €25pp This session is specifically for those who have had some experience mountain biking previously. It will include the same level of instruction and monitoring from our qualified Mountain Bike Leaders. It will focus more on riding out a little further and progressing the basic skills learned in the Junior Groms. Perfect for kids looking to progress a little more. Age: 9-12yrs Location: The Coillte - Ballyhoura Mountain Forest Trailhead Duration: 2.5hrs Group Size: 8 Bike & Helmet Hire: Included Family Biking Adventure: €25pp (Guardian & child[ren] groupings) The event sets out to bring a parent/guardian and child pairings together for a cycle across the scenic Ballyhoura Mountain range. No previous mountain biking experience is required. It is recommended that participants are confident in cycling a bike. Mountain Bikes and helmets will be provided for each of the participants as part of the event. The route will incorporate forestry roads and dedicated mountain bike trails to add variety to the route as well as introducing the extensive Ballyhoura Mountain Bike trails to participants. The day will include an introduction to mountain biking and bike safety at the meeting point. A Mountain Bike Leader will take the participants through the basic workings of the bikes and correctly size helmets and bikes for each participant. New skills will be introduced and demonstrated in a pre-prepared skills area by the start point. Basic skills such as braking, weight shifting, gearing, and cornering. Basic body position will be taught to maximize balance, safety, and stability. Time will be allocated for each participant to try each skill and supportive coaching will be offered when needed. This event includes a fully serviced mountain bike, helmet, and qualified instructor. Age: Parent-child combinations Min age 9yrs.
