East Limerick Traveller Project is starting to wind down and will take a well-deserved break for August but will be back and ready to deliver a wide range of supports and activities for members of the Travelling Community in East Limerick.

One of the highlights of 2021 was the announcement of the East Limerick Traveller Project as the Aontas Star Award winner in the large organisation category for initiatives that support health & wellbeing.

Throughout Covid 19 restrictions East Limerick Traveller Project visited Traveller homes throughout East Limerick with information on Covid 19, vaccinations and health as well as providing food, sanitizing and activity packs to Traveller families in the area.

Women took part in an online healthy cooking programme supported by Limerick and Clare Education and Training board. Despite Covid restrictions, Kilmallock Traveller women's group kept in touch with each other offering peer support and company online each week. Once restrictions lifted the group took part in outdoor health & fitness and other outdoor sessions and enjoyed a trip to Knock on a lovely day at the end of June.

Kilmallock Traveller Men's group started to meet again online once restrictions allowed and took part in mountain biking and a trip to Ballyhass lakes. Ballyhoura Development's Community wellbeing Social Prescribing Project facilitated hobby style taster sessions and have a series of these planned for the Autumn.

We have exciting plans for the Autumn including Paediatric First Aid, Healthy Cooking, Guest Speakers, Education & Training, Mystery tours, Ongoing support to Kilmallock Traveller Women and Men's Groups.
