Ballyhoura Development is encouraging local communities to have their say and assist with the development of the next Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) National Implementation Plan.

Sustainability, equality, climate mitigation, a just transition, poverty eradication, the environment, health and wellbeing, local employment are all issues that arise for local communities when undertaking local participative socio-economic planning. Local communities can now contribute their local knowledge, experience, and expertise to the development of the next SDG implementation plan for Ireland.

The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications have launched the online public consultation which is open for submissions for an 8-week period, from Friday 16 July to Friday 10 September 2021.  The consultation is reflective of the fact that the SDGs belong to everybody and that partnerships with society is required to achieve the Goals.

As part of the consultation process, the Department want to hear from as many people as possible to:

  1. Assess the awareness of, and engagement with, the SDGs;
  2. Establish general opinion on progress made to-date;
  3. Seek feedback and recommendations to inform the drafting and development of the next National Implementation Plan.

Communities have a growing interest in the environment and climate mitigation and if you or your community is interested in learning more about or participating in the Ballyhoura Sustainable Energy Communities programme, please read more below:
