This non-accredited Free 12 week gardening course offers practical skills, and shared learning to help everyone from the novice gardener to the experienced cultivate their garden at home or use their skills on the grounds of the LCETB campus in Cappamore.


What You’ll Learn:

Gardening is a simple yet powerful way to support mental health and reduce social isolation, particularly in rural communities. Time spent outdoors, growing and nurturing plants, can help reduce stress, improve mood, and create a sense of purpose.

Community gardening also provides valuable opportunities for social connection, bringing people together in a welcoming and inclusive space.

The course will cover everything from creating healthy soil to attracting beneficial insects, and it’s perfect for anyone – whether you're a beginner or looking to enhance your gardening skills.

What You Will Achieve?

By the end of the 12 weeks, you will have developed the knowledge and skills to:

  • Develop a sustainable approach to gardening.
  • Troubleshoot problems in their own garden.
  • Develop a greater appreciation of the biodiversity in and around our gardens.
  • Learn about healthy soil, herbs, veggie success, watering, mulching, composting, sowing trays and lazy beds for potatoes. 

This programme is suitable for all levels of gardening experience.
