Sewing Course in Cappamore Discover the enjoyment of making your own handmade projects while learning practical sewing skills in a friendly and supportive environment. This 12-week sewing programme will teach the foundation of sewing and pattern reading through the making and creating of practical items, using basic sewing skills. It is designed for the beginner but sewers of various abilities are welcome. What You’ll Learn This non-certified course provides learners with a practical introduction to the fundamentals of sewing, offering the knowledge and confidence needed to create a range of useful and creative projects. Designed primarily for beginners, the course is also suitable for those with some previous sewing experience who wish to refresh or build on their existing skills. If you have a sewing machine please bring it along. Throughout the course, learners will develop an understanding of: Essential sewing techniques, including how to safety use a sewing machine. Select appropriate fabrics and materials Interpret and follow commercial sewing patterns. Take accurate measurements and cut fabrics correctly. Basic hand and sewing machine skills. Seam finishes, hemming techniques, fastening methods and garment construction principles. In addition to practical sewing skills, the course encourages creativity, problem-solving, attention to detail, and sustainable practices by promoting the repair, alteration, and upcycling of textiles where appropriate. What You’ll Achieve: The course is project-based, allowing learners to apply their new skills by creating practical items such as tote bags, cushion covers, aprons, simple garments, or other everyday textile projects. Each learner will work at their own pace, receiving individual guidance and support to help them achieve their personal goals while developing confidence and independence.
