Find out more about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in an interesting and interactive way, and about where they came from and how they are interdependent and closely linked.

Join us for this free workshop and find out more about the simple, practical actions which you and your community can undertake to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

What to expect?

You will learn why the SDGs are important and how they apply to people living in Ireland, and in your community. There will also be an opportunity to discuss and devise actions which you, as an individual, community group or business, can undertake to contribute towards the SDGs and the targets within them.

This workshop will be facilitated by Ballyhoura Development, one of the 2023/24 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Champion Organisations appointed by the Department of Environment, Climate & Communications.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - also known as the Global Goals - are a global call to action and aim to “end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity” now and into the future. The SDGs were adopted in 2015 by all 193 United Nations Member states, and they set targets for a range of improvements in areas such as health and wellbeing, education, equality, the environment, sustainable economic growth, peace and global partnership.

There are 17 Goals and 169 Targets, with each target being directly linked with a goal. Ireland has its own National Implementation plan and targets for achieving the SDGs.
