Even though the Covid 19 pandemic has put much of the 2021 Ability programme online, we have still gladly taken the opportunity to get out and about when we can safely do so!

On a recent sunny Friday afternoon, Ability participants came together with some Ballyhoura Development staff members and Mark Britton of Britton Outdoors on a visit to Doneraile Park, Cork. Mark lead the group on an educational walk and talk around the estate, discussing the history of the park and the nature that can be found there.

Following this, the group enjoyed a socially distanced picnic lunch and finally had the chance to connect in person after months of virtual learning and other online events.

The Ability Programme encourages and supports young people to take on meaningful social roles through employment or voluntary positions in their community. It provides tools and supports needed by participants to become more engaged and active within their community at a local, regional or national level.
