Failte Ireland in conjunction with Ballyhoura Development have organised a series Climate Action workshops for Tourism Businesses in the Ballyhoura area.  

These workshops will focus on getting your carbon footprint from Energy, Waste and Water usage, as well as helping tourism businesses to tell visitors what you are doing to help the environment.  


Who is the programme for?

Managers and owners of tourism businesses in Ballyhoura region who want practical advice on how to reduce their carbon footprint, implement change and reduce costs.

What's involved?

Workshop 1: Calculate your Carbon Footprint and Get your International Benchmark

  • Wednesday, September 27th from 10:00am -12 noon
  • The goal of the workshop is to provide all the information businesses need to complete the carbon calculator, generate the action plan, and access their international benchmark.
  • In advance of the workshop, it is important that businesses have accessed the Energy, Waste and Water Tracker to inform the gathering of usage data for their business.
  • Note: Participants will have three weeks to complete the carbon calculator prior to attending the clinic.

Clinic

  • Thursday October 19th 10:00am – 11.00am OR 11:00-12:00am
  • Discussion and Q&A forum to support businesses in implementing their action plan and their ongoing measuring, monitoring, and reporting on energy, water, and waste and cost-saving measures.

Workshop 2: How to Tell Your Climate Action Story

  • Thursday 16th November 11:00-1.00pm
  • In this workshop tourism businesses will learn the smart ways to tell their visitors all about what they are doing to prioritise the environment.
    • Sustainable marketing and communications.
    • How to write a sustainability policy.
    • Tips for your website and social media
    • Influencing in-destination visitor behaviour.
