Ballyhoura Development employs over 60 people on the Rural Social Scheme (RSS), which is an employment support scheme designed to support farmers and fisherpersons who are in receipt of long-term social welfare payments. RSS employees are employed for 19.5 hours per week to provide certain services of benefit to rural communities, which may include:
