Youth-Led Local Development

Addressing Youth Skills and Community Youth Inclusion processes to Facilitate the Next Generation of Young Community Leaders.

Youth-Led Local Development (YLLD) is a collaboration between 4 partners from the community development, social enterprise, youth, and training sectors across 4 countries – Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Romania. This is a research and training project that aims to increase youth inclusion in Community-Led Local Development across the EU.

The project team will design and develop training materials and a toolkit to support youth participation in community-led local development (CLLD) activities in the 4 partner countries. Approaches to engaging young people and community groups in CLLD activities will be presented in the form of learning materials and workshop plans that will be designed to address the issues and practices identified that prevent youth participation.

The project runs from January 2022 until June 2024 and the results will be used to inform recommendations for future policy in relation to the European community and voluntary sector. Over spring 2022, the project team will undertake transnational research into perceptions, blockages, and future skills needed amongst the community and voluntary organisations to help increase youth inclusion in community development. Look out for our research report this summer!

In late 2022 the project team will be seeking participants between the ages of 18-25 to take part in a community development training programme. This will include a learning workshop in Portugal. Please follow the project social media accounts below to be kept up to date with all project information and opportunities.

YLLD’s 4 transnational partners are:

  • Ballyhoura Development CLG - Ireland (Lead Partner)
  • ASCAE - Associazione per il Sociale, la Cultura e l'Ambiente, Italy
  • Rightchallenge – Associação, Portugal
  • Asociatia Grupul de Actiune Locala Napoca Porolissum - Romania
