Let’s take a look at Sustainable Development Goal 17 – partnerships for the goals. This goal is all about countries, organisations and individuals working together to achieve all of the SDGs.

Ballyhoura Development is working towards Target 17.16 ‘Enhance the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilise and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the SDGs, in particular developing countries.’

Partnership and participation are the guiding principles of Ballyhoura Development's work and activities, as evidenced by the programmes which Ballyhoura Development delivers in partnership with other statutory and/or voluntary bodies.

  • Ballyhoura Development has a broad thematic, geographic and socio-economic reach.
  • Many of the programmes which Ballyhoura Development administers have a reach beyond the Ballyhoura region, for example the SEC programme which covers all counties in Munster and EU projects such as YESDGs and CITICESS which involve international partners.
  • Ballyhoura Development also works with a wide range of local and regional partners and stakeholders including but not limited to: the HSE, Housing Associations, Tidy Towns groups, Schools, Cork and Limerick ETBs, Community Councils, Farmers, Businesses and Social Enterprises.

The SDGs are relevant to everyone in society and everyone has a role to play in contributing to the achievement of a just and equal society, at local, regional, national and global level but they are much easier to achieve working together and building partnerships.
