Savour Food is a food waste reduction initiative for business, whereby businesses are supported to assess, analyse and reduce their food waste and food waste costs.

Businesses participating in the Initiative are supported by Ballyhoura Development to identify their main food waste concerns and to set up a tailored food waste assessment system in the business.  All equipment is provided and staff are trained on how to record food weights on a daily basis.

A report on the assessment results is prepared by the Savour Food team. In tandem with staff, a number of actions are then agreed to pilot one or several food waste reduction actions.  Ongoing support and mentoring is provided by Ballyhoura Development and by the broader Savour Food project team from the Clean Technology Centre at CIT.

Ballyhoura Development, The Clean Technology Centre (CIT), and SECAD work in partnership to assist businesses participating in the Initiative.

If you would like to find out more or if your business would like to participate in this Initiative, please contact Eileen O'Keeffe at [email protected].

This is a pilot programme between Ballyhoura Development, Clean Technology Centre (CIT) and SECAD, and is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine from the Department’s Rural Innovation and Development Fund.
